大森研究室では、国内外の複数のフィールドを対象に、研究・まちづくりの活動に参加しています。プロジェクトを通じて、実際の都市空間・組織・人のあり方を考え、実践していくことで、理論にとどまらないまちづくりの姿勢を確立していくことを狙いとしています。学生には、様々な経験を通じて、社会と向き合う軸を涵養して欲しいと考えています。
Omori Laboratory engages in research and activities in several fields in Japan and abroad. Through the projects, the aim is to establish an attitude towards urban planning that goes beyond theory by considering and practising the actual urban space, organisation and people. We want students to cultivate an attitude to face society through a variety of experiences.

みなとまち・水辺
大都市の多くは、港を有し、古来より交易や文化交流の要となってきました。現在、港は都市にとって貴重な水辺となっており、その役割は重要です。しかし、港湾は都市計画と異なる運輸・物流の理論で成り立っているため、法的・空間的に都市と断絶している場合が多く、様々な課題を抱えています。本研究・プロジェクトでは国内外のみなとまちを対象に、都市の貴重な水辺のあり方を考えるために、多角的な調査・研究を進めていきます。
Port City and Waterfront
Many large cities have ports, which have been a key element of trade and cultural exchange since ancient times. Today, a harbor is a valuable waterfront for city and play an important role. However, ports are often legally and spatially disconnected from cities because they are built on a theory of transport and logistics that differs from urban planning, which faces a number of challenges. In this research and project, multifaceted surveys and research will be carried out on ports and harbours in Japan and abroad, in order to consider how valuable urban waterfronts should be.
交通とまちづくり
都市を成立させている要素の一つは交通です。特に大都市は、大規模・高頻度に運行される公共交通抜きには成立しません。一方で、コロナ禍などを経て、人々の働き方は一様ではなくなり、単純な通勤需要に頼ってきた公共交通も、変革を求められています。交通のあり方が変われば、当然、まちづくりのあり方も変わってくることでしょう。特に郊外を中心として、長期的な目線で、今後の交通とまちづくりを考えていく調査・研究を進めていきます。
Transportation and Urban Planning
Transportation is one of the elements that make a city. Large cities, in particular, cannot exist without large-scale, high-frequency public transportation. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic, people’s working and life styles are no longer uniform, and public transportation, which has relied on simple commuting demand, is also being required to change. As transportation changes, urban development will naturally change as well. We will continue to conduct surveys and research to consider future transportation and urban development from a long-term perspective, particularly in the suburbs.
多摩川プロジェクト (Tamagawa Brew)
Tamagawa Brewは世田谷区二子玉川の多摩川河川敷（区立兵庫島公園）をフィールドとして、地域住民や多摩川を愛する多くの関係者と作り上げる、都市の水辺の実験場です。河川は都市の貴重な公共空間というだけでなく、人々の生活と、大いなる地球環境との接点です。河川の生態系を考えることは、広く地球環境と未来を思いやることに繋がります。多摩川を愛する人々のボトムアップで取り組む、実践型のプロジェクトです。
Tamagawa Brew Project
Tamagawa Brew is an urban waterfront experimental site built with the cooperation of local residents and many other people who love the Tama River, using the riverside (Hyogojima Park) in Futako-Tamagawa, Setagaya City, Tokyo. Rivers are not only valuable public spaces in cities, but also a point of contact between citizens and the global environment. Thinking about river ecosystems leads to caring for the global environment and future more broadly. It is a practical project undertaken from the bottom up by people who love the Tama River.
おおたクリエイティブタウンネットワーク
東京科学大学が位置する東京都大田区は、現在でも多くの工場があります。一見、何の変哲もないようなまちの中に、多くの町工場が点在します。こうした大田区の特徴を活かして、今後のまちづくりを考えていくプロジェクトです。毎秋には，多くの工場が一斉に見学や体験を受け入れる「おおたオープンファクトリー」を実施しています。※本プロジェクトは横浜国立大学・東京都立大学が主宰するもので、それに参加させていただくかたちを取っています。両大学には感謝申し上げます。
Ota Open Factory
Tokyo’s Ota City, where Tokyo University of Science is located, is still home to many factories. Many small factories are scattered throughout what at first glance appears to be an ordinary town. This project aims to utilize these characteristics of Ota ward to consider future urban development. Every autumn the “Ota Open Factory” is held, where many factories are open for public and have work shop events.

レモンと縁側の庭「こんちわ」
横浜市港北区にある大森の自宅を地域に開くプロジェクトです。一帯はまだ農地や樹林地が残る都市近郊の典型的なスプロール住宅地となっています。ここで家のリビングをリノベーションして地域に開き、ワークショップや駄菓子屋・自治会活動の拠点などとして活用しています。これらを通じ、様々なネットワークや取組が広がり始めています。公共に頼るだけでなく、暮らしたい場所は自分たちの力で作っていく、まちづくりの第一歩だと考えています。

Open house project “Konchi-wa”
This project is open house project of Omori’s home in Yokohama City. The area is a typical sprawl suburban residential area where farmland and woodlands still remain. The living room of the home has been renovated and opened to the local community, and is being used for workshops, a sweets store, and as a base for neighborhood association activities.
